There are various tactics that the police use to interrogate their suspects, and one of them is torture. However, various forms of torture, such as; waterboarding, yelling, loud music, sleep adjustment, use of stress positions, and instilling fear in the suspects by using dogs.

As far as human rights are concerned, most police’s torture tactics to interrogate their suspects can be termed as inhuman and even degrading. The right to a humane treatment to any detainee is a fundamental value that should not be abandoned at all costs. It is unfair to use torture during interrogations because torture is cruel and illegal too. Various researchers tell that torture can make an individual say anything to terminate the pain. The use of torture can compromise an individual’s cognitive function, making the officers acquire inaccurate information at the end. It is too unfair to use physical, emotional, or even psychological pressures to interrogate an individual. The use of these pressures may alter the mood and even the whole life of an individual.

The torture tactics used by the intelligence professionals should be eliminated at all. These torture tactics, in most cases, end up being ineffective. However, there are so many interrogation tactics that respect human rights, which have proven to be successful while obtaining the required information from different suspects. However, the intelligence officers should opt for the torture-free tactics because every individual has been granted the right to be treated fairly. All interrogation officers should keep off from any form of a torture tactic and ensure that their commitment is to the rule of law.
