1. For each kind of primary source discuss what can and cannot be learned about the near environment from that source. Using Ancient Egypt, Minoa, and Mycenae provide examples and recognize examples.
2. Discuss the use of sources – types and kinds, difference between primary and secondary sources, number of sources, how they should be used and analyzed, advantages and disadvantages, and so forth – in studying the history of the near environment.
3. List the sources that were used to study the near environments of ancient Egypt, Minoa, Mycenae, and ancient Greece. Discuss what has been learned from those sources and the limitations of the sources used for the study of these three socio-cultural systems. Discuss the type of information and sources that are missing for these systems. Are some parts of the near environment not represented by extant items/products and other found historical sources?
