Art and literature do involve not only examination of absolute masterpieces but also a steadfast and humane meditation on the individual stages of growing up. Art creation contributes to a person’s overall development and prepares them to be good citizens. Today, many people earn their living through numerous art creations. While others are teachers, some paint beautiful images, create new songs, write new books, and many are earning in sports activities. These advantages, coupled with numerous other benefits, indicate that it is suitable for art and literature in every school’s pre-K to 12th-grade curriculum.

Many instances motivate the inclusion of art creation in schools. To begin with, art is used in the teaching of other subjects in school. Therefore, prior knowledge of arts will be helpful for students to develop a deeper understanding of the specific subjects. In a survey conducted to determine the subjects where art is mostly used, it has been discovered that the use of art in teaching other subjects is common.

The statistics indicate that arts are already incorporated into other subjects. From the findings, art is used more in teaching humanities than in mathematics and sciences. The findings indicate that arts education is crucial to students and should be made part of the curriculum.

Learning art and literature is beneficial in encouraging confidence, concentration and teamwork among students. The stimulation that students find in the impression they get when they create a new thing motivates them in life (Kennicott, 2014). By doing so, they develop a positive belief in themselves that they can achieve more. Therefore, they will concentrate more during mentorships, which will improve their level of concentration by default. Their ability to learn new things will be improved, and as they join their knowledge together to create art and enjoy sport, they improve their experience in teamwork. Art creation is necessary for refreshing students’ brains, hence enriching the experience of students in school and preparing students for life after school.


Art and literature enhance creativity in students. As the students create art and learn about different cultures worldwide, they develop a deeper understanding of society and change how they view the universe. The students will quickly identify areas that require attention and develop remedies to counter the issues they have identified. Writers will be able to address the issues by writing about them and publishing their books for sale hence creating financial opportunities.

Sports improve national and international cohesion and integration. As Nelson Mandela puts it, sport is greater than governments bringing humanity together. Sport is an activity that champions the building of international friendship, although there are few instances where discrimination has been reported. Peaceful co-existence is crucial among races and communities for social and economic development. Since sport is a greater contributor to building relations, including it in the curriculum is beneficial.

The creation of arts and literature is a career opportunity for most people. The students can become professional writers, teachers, art therapists, professional musicians, graphic designers, museum directors,  and even film directors. Learning art and literature creation is paramount in solving the issue of unemployment in countries.

Art creation and literature creation are crucial in instilling social virtues among students. Building good behavioural character is important in preparing students to be good citizens. From literature, students learn more about the impact of vice in the community, especially the oppression of people by other communities (Davis, 2008). The students develop critical thinking as they learn from such issues in a way that will enable them to avoid getting involved in them.

Critics say that artwork consumes more time and will allow little space for students to learn other subjects. Coupled with its interesting nature, the artwork will make many students preoccupied with it instead of learning other subjects. For instance, students taking music may indulge in singing even in classes. The argument is that the long-term outcome will be a failure in other subjects.

The general purposes of education in student life are to instil knowledge, prepare them for job opportunities and shape their behaviour. Art and literature creation helps more in building character, just as it is a potential career opportunity. More lessons about the market promotion of created art should be included in the syllabus. The benefits that accrue from learning arts are more than the disadvantages. Therefore, it would mean that incorporating it as part of the curriculum has a positive outcome in education. Therefore, it suffices to conclude that the creation of art and literature in the curriculum.
