Iman’s Problem

Iman is a girl in her early twenties, coming from a family of four. She is the eldest child with three siblings, one sister and two brothers. Iman’s father is a hardworking man and was somewhat distant in her childhood; however, she believes her father provided her with a good home and necessities of life. Her mother was hardworking with anxiety, remembering, and concentration issues. Additionally, she experienced rejection at school in her childhood as she got bullied by her colleagues.

During past few years, Iman struggled emotionally over the past few years as she has experienced many different events. She has become involved with friends who seem to enjoy partying and social gatherings during COVID 19. Iman has struggled to find a place to fit in with her friends, fearing rejection. Consequently, she turned to substance use to feel belonging and tried to express herself unusually and uncomfortably for her. Substance use and parting were methods used to escape from her family issues and school-related pressures.

Currently, Iman is in her third year of a science program and is struggling with grades and assignments as she feels that she is never ready for the exam feels stressed and anxious most of the time. Moreover, she feels low in mood, which negatively impacts her energy and mental health to move forward in her daily life and cope with her problems.
