Education – Association Study Economics
Normally a healthcare or social care professional plays an important role to improve the quality of the physical and mental health of the population. They need to provide services that can prevent the spreading of lethal and non-lethal diseases and can promote the health of individuals and communities and families. Healthcare, as well as social care professionals, fulfil the need of individuals, communities and families. The social care professionals provide services for older children, and for persons who are mentally and physically disabled. The professionals need to provide services in various places such as in schools, residential care, community-based office, prisons, and health centre and in hospitals. These professions are very challenging and as well as very interesting also. The professionals must have some personal qualities such as tolerance, patience, resilience, and good understanding. Along with these, healthcare, social care and public health professionals need to think and analyse things critically, make quick and right decisions under tough circumstances. Moreover, they must have the ability to understand and work within a legal framework to provide protection to vulnerable adults and children (who.int, 2020). So, in these professions, I will get an opportunity to serve my communities and my nation. Here, I can provide services to the children who are the future of the nation and as well the vulnerable adults who seriously need help. I want to work in the public healthcare or social care field and this will satisfy me internally. I am very patient and moreover, I can think rationally and I have empathy for the vulnerable section of the society. Furthermore, I have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills that will help me to gain a professional advantage in future. In future I want to work in HCA hospital, U.K. It is one of the largest healthcare service providers in London, U.K. In HCA, I will get an opportunity to learn from the expert of every department and I will be able to gain knowledge that will enhance my skills and professionalism. HCA, U.K., hospital has 2 to 3 intensive care units for adults and 1 out of 9 beds are preserved for critical care patients. To work as a healthcare assistant I need to complete a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. After completing my graduate degree, I want to join HCA hospital. In HCA hospital I will get a chance to choose a specialist area. Moreover, in HCA hospital I will get good support and the highest quality of training and development programme. Furthermore, after successful completion of my 18 months’ training programme, I will get a huge scope to progress. Along with this the hands-on experiences and excellent guidance from the mentor will increase my confidence level. I will assist the clinical staff and I will provide the highest quality of nursing care to the patients of HCA. Furthermore, I will get an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and as a good team player (hcacareers, 2021). Moreover, I will communicate with diverse colleges and patients of HCA. By this way, I will be able to deliver the highest standard of care and I will be able to fulfil my ambition.

Expressing appreciation in the field of social and health care practices provides the patient with mental stability and reducing the anxiety of not being considered. According to static research and reports, it has mentioned that working staff of the healthcare showing compassion towards the patient removes the fear of malpractices in the organisation and other irrelevant mistakes happening form the healthcare counterpart. For instance, a nurse showing kindness towards a patient helps them cure faster and develop a mental stability. It completely presents the understanding of the suffering of the patient in general view point.
Primary Care: The primary care includes a direct connection between the patient and the staff members. This helps in communicating with the patient and resolving the health issues occurring. It includes the importance of patient education, informing them about the ongoing process of treatment and other relevant information (medical, 2021). Counselling of the patient is also one of the prime factors of social and health care practices. For example, a dentist or a physiotherapist directly communicating with the patient and helping them to overcome the pain. It is very significant to develop a healthy relationship with the primary healthcare worker.
Secondary Care: The secondary care is defined as providing special treatment to the concerned patient and are referred by some experts (Phung et al., 2020). It states the importance of valuing and including the contribution of community or society at large. It breaks the barrier of lack of participation and bringing the efficiency of togetherness.
Safeguarding: The safeguarding refers to the importance of protecting the health and wellbeing of the citizens. It is one of the intrinsic parts which provides best and effective health care. Safeguarding the vulnerable section, specifically the children and old adults has been one of the immediate and important responsibility (educare, 2021). For example, safeguarding the patient from malpractices in the social and health care sector. It protects the individuals from being abused and harming the mental health. Liberty of the patient is protected and secured before getting abruptly affected. Securing the patient is one of the most important segments provides mental peace.
Social justice: Social justice refers to the equal distribution of wealth, advantages, opportunities, and privileges among society. Social justice is a concept of fairness. It includes fairness in housing, employment, healthcare and more. The aim of social justice in the health sector is that every person in society can access good quality health facilities and good health. Inequities are found in the health sector and it is the result of unequal distribution of wealth, money, power among the communities. The inequality is based on race, gender and class (apha.org, 2020). A good example of social justice in the health sector is providing a training programme to the nurse to handle and fulfil the demand of their patients.
Health inequality: Health inequality refers to the differences in the status of people’s health. The health condition of a person depends on his income, education, the place where he lives, and his work place and on the food. Health inequalities depend on the differences in health status, different behavioural patterns of humans, different abilities to access health care services and many others (Williams, 2020). For example, A child born in a South African country has a life expectancy of 50 years, whereas a child of Japan has 84 years of life expectancy.
Health promotion: Health promotion is a process that is used to increase awareness among the community about common health hazards. It also empowers people to control and develop their health. Health promotion gives emphasis to strengthen health-related infrastructures and also provide funds to increase the promotional activities. Along with this, it provides school-based health programmes (who.int, 2020). Examples of health promotional activities are health fairs, media campaigns and many others. Moreover, promoting breastfeeding, smoking preventing programmes are some of the examples of effective health promotion.
Health protection: Health protection is about giving protection to the individual and communities from diseases. It also mitigates the impact of infectious diseases and also reduces the effect of environmental changes and of radiological threats. For example, the Soil of a field is regularly tested to ensure that crops of the field are not contaminated with any agent of diseases.
Person-centred care: In this case, a person becomes involved to take charge of their own health and actively take part in their own medical treatments under the guidance of health professionals. Patients should be treated with proper dignity and respect. For example, One patient may want relaxing music and one patient may want a hot room in a hospital. Person-centred care allows patients to make decisions.
Interprofessional working: Interprofessional working is needed when two or more than two professions are working collaboratively to achieve a common goal. It is very important in health care related services. In this case, different health care professionals with diverse kinds of knowledge, talent and skills work together. It is used to improve the promotional activities, interpersonal relationships and to increase patient satisfaction (PubMed, 2020). For example: In a hospital nurses, caregivers, physicians, dieticians, pharmacists and many others all work together to provide maximum support to the patients.
Integrated care: Integrated care refers to the sharing of information among all members of the team related to patient care. It is characterised by a high degree of collaboration among the health professionals such as nurses, physicians, care givers, physiologists and others. Moreover, it is used to establish a comprehensive treatment plan that minimises the depressive symptoms of patients, develop the quality of care and reduce the overall treatment costs. Moreover, it is useful to meet the biological, social and physiological demands of the patients (apa.org, 2021).
Professional Accountability: Professional accountability is the professional commitment that gives the individual an extra professional advantage and increases the professionalism of an individual. Example: Professional accountability is very much expected from a nurse. Nurses must take the responsibility for their actions not as an individual but as a member of a collective team. When a nurse takes the report from the outgoing nurse a transfer of accountability occurs. Then the oncoming becomes responsible and answerable for the outcomes of the patients during her time (Sherman, 2019).
