Please respond to 2 peers. Peer 1 Google defines their business strategy as follows: “Deliver the analytical insights our leaders use to enable us to innovate. Whether it’s identifying acquisitions and investments, monetizing strategies for products, or developing partners in emerging markets such as Africa and India, Business Strategy Googlers anticipate opportunities and execute programs critical to Google’s short- and long-term growth.” (Build for Everyone – Google Careers, n.d.). The “ten things” article outlines specific items which Google continues to hold paramount in pursuit of their overarching business strategy. A few of the “ten things” which I believe directly correlate to Google’s strategy are outlined below (Ten Things we Know to be True – Google, n.d.): “It’s best to do one thing really, really well”: Google has shown consistently that they produce a superior search engine product. This is clear based upon their substantial market share – owning over 70% of the total internet search marketplace as of 2020 (Chaffey, 2020). They continue to optimize their search engine and increase the speed at which results are obtained, which keeps their product in the “really, really well” category, and by extension increases their market share and revenue. “You don’t need to be at your desk to need an answer” According to Statista, as of September 2021, Google received 93.4 percent of the mobile search engine traffic within the United States (Statista, 2021). This incredible market share clearly indicates Google’s dedication to creating a mobile friendly application which works across all platforms. By dedicating time, and by extension money, to mobile search optimization, Google has solidified themselves as a staple of American daily life, and has evolved their business model to meet consumers where they are, rather than requiring that consumers come to their existing platform. This is a strategy that is pivotal to longer term success, and a great example of Google anticipating the needs of their consumers. Simply these two guiding “things” that Google champions are enough to paint a very clear picture as to why Google is as successful as they are. They both provide clear direction as to what motivates the company, and which markets they are truly placing a priority upon. By delivering upon these two principles, Google’s executive leadership team has shown incredible dedication to their overall business strategy. References: Build for Everyone – Google Careers. Google., Peer 2 Google is a very successful company that has a strong strategy aimed at continuing to be one of the leading technology companies in the world. Google strives to be the leading information organizer in the world with a focus on accessibility and ease of use. “It performs on the vision of organising the world’s information and making it accessible to users. The vision doesn’t end here, it seeks to evolve with changing times to pace up with new generations of people, technology and lifestyles” (Unveiling Business Strategy, 2019). Google understands the importance of their services and utilizes the “ten things” to be true to help them follow and excel with their strategy. A couple of the “ten things” that I believe Google really concentrates on to successfully achieve their strategy are focusing on the user and all else will follow and great isn’t just good enough. Google’s main focus from day one has been the user of their products and services and evolving their services to be as convenient and user friendly as possible. “Whether we’re designing a new Internet browser or a new tweak to the look of the homepage, we take great care to ensure that they will ultimately serve you, rather than our own internal goal or bottom line” (Ten things, n.d.). Google sees that it is true that success can be achieved from the users being the center of their strategy and that everything else after the user will fall into place once the users are satisfied. This can be seen by the success of their search engine. “The algorithm was—and still is—being constantly tweaked and updated to give users the most relevant results. Because it started strong and just kept getting better and better, Google became the go-to search engine for the Internet in the space of a few years” (Beattie, 2020). Users prefer Google as a search engine because of the ease of use and the familiarity with how the service provides the best results. Along with the focus on users, Google is constantly changing their service and tweaking it-aided from the belief that great isn’t just good enough. Through innovation, Google continues to gain market share and followers by providing services and products that are superior to their competition. “Away from the plethora of all the financial aspects, Research and Development is one of the most cardinal part of Google’s business operations which seeks knowledge to develop, design and enhance its products, services, technologies, solutions, and tools” (Unveiling Business Strategy, 2019). Overall, Google is focused on having products and services that are convenient for users while also being innovative and evolving these products and services to meet users needs. Through a strategic plan that is aided by the “ten things” known to be true, Google continues to advance their company and gain more market share.
