Students with Disabilities-Samuel weider

Objective: By the end of the lesson, the students will learn pronunciations of grade-level text with an accuracy of 80% with the help of a video illustration and flashcards.

Activity: The teacher will project the cover of the storybook “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats on the smartboard; he will then use a pointer to point and read aloud the object’s name. He will encourage the students to try and repeat after him; he will later use a text to speech software to help the students learn the correct pronunciations.

After exhausting all the objects on the book’s cover, the teacher will display a video illustration of the book where an automated voice will be reading aloud in a slow and calm voice.

The teacher will then identify some of the new vocabularies which he will have indicated on the flashcards. He will read aloud for the students to learn their correct pronunciation.

Assessment: using a tape recorder, the students will record themselves pronouncing at least three words correctly from the five provided.

As homework, the teacher will give the students a worksheet containing words where the students are to match the objects by their names. All this will be from the storybook “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats
