Serious Issues with Embracing Creation Science and Intelligent Design by Some Conservative Christians Groups

Some conservative Christian groups such as those who believe in Young Earth creationism have a worldview that never accepts the aimless development and formation of life but needs an intelligent or a supernatural intervention while linking serious issues with Creation Science and Intelligent Design(Nieminen et al. 260). Young Earth creationism proponents emphasize that the Earth’s young age, together with the need for a literal interpretation of the book of Genesis in the Bible, as a prerequisite for the human’s fall and redemption (Johnson et al. 1227). Intelligent Design accepts the planet’s geological age but needs an intervention during evolution.

However, the Young Earth creationism proponents have maintained that the traditional features of the God of the Christians such as being omnipotence, benevolence, omniscience, which has been opposed by some Intelligent Design and Creation Science authors on speculating on the alleged designer’s nature (Nieminen et al. 263). Young Earth creationism proponents utilize reinterpretation of the scientific data as the evidence for earth’s creation and try to legitimize this belief in the Genesis historicity. This could be regarded as a form of scientism. Young Earth creationism proponents’ theodicy concentrates on the fall of man as the source of evil as well as an eschatological resolve of suffering (Johnson et al. 1228). In contrast, Intelligent Design and Creation Science proponents attempt to resolve theodicy through compensated benefits such as pain (Nieminen et al. 260). Intelligent Design does not make a perfect stand concerning ecclesiology and salvation, but Young Earth creationism proponents consider Christian faith and evolutionary theory to be typically inconsistent.

Ultimately, Young-Earth creationism doctrine differs from Creation Science denominations by recognizing scientific evidence as evidence for the Genesis historicity and shows signs of exclusivity concerning Creation proponents. Young Earth Creationism appears to be moving towards becoming a new denomination and an evolving novel religion.
